KPKP Agency Holds Anthrax Surveillance in Central Jakarta

Central Jakarta Food Tenacity, Maritime and Agriculture Agency (KPKP) through Center for Animal Health and Livestock Services held anthrax surveillance in Central Jakarta. The activity targeted several Qurban Animal Shelter.

We have taken samples from 53 locations

Central Jakarta KPKP Sub-agency Head, Penty Yunesi Pudyastuti said the activity was held on Wednesday (6/5) to Thursday (6/6). The activity was also aimed to celebrate Eid ul Adha.

"Our target on first day was Menteng and Tanah Abang Sub-districts. Second day was in Kemayoran," she said, Thursday (6/6).

On the first day, she added, her side visited four shelters in Menteng and six shelter in Tanah Abang Sub-districts. They also took 25 blood and soil samples from four locations.

Renova Ida Siahaan, Sub-agency's Center for Animal Health and Livestock Services Head, said the surveillance is targeting all Jakarta area. The activity is held from May 27 to June 13, 2024.

Renova hopes the surveillance will be able to prevent and anticipate anthrax in Jakarta especially ahead of Eid ul Adha. The activity targets 105 shelters with 525 samples.

"We have taken samples from 53 locations and tested 276 samples. Te result is good," she closed.
